This project falls under Aboitiz Construction’s new business segment focused on maintenance services, marking a significant step as the company expands its portfolio beyond construction to long-term operations and asset upkeep.

The five-year contract covers the operations and maintenance of key airport systems, including the baggage handling system, passenger boarding bridge, and the visual docking guidance system. It also includes comprehensive facilities management services for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and civil works, along with a centralized help desk to streamline support.

The scope also covers the use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System platform to support the digital transformation of asset, vendor, and spare parts management. The IFM services are SLA-based and aligned with the Minimum Performance Standards and Specifications (MPSS) set by the government and the Airport Council International.

More than 150 personnel have been locally hired to support the project, reflecting Aboitiz Construction’s commitment to generating local employment and uplifting communities.

Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), located in Lapu-Lapu City on Mactan Island, Cebu, is the second busiest airport in the Philippines and the main international gateway to the Central Visayas region. To help enhance operational efficiency, passenger experience, and overall service quality, Aboitiz Construction now provides Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) services at MCIA, covering the operations and maintenance of key airport systems and facilities. “This collaboration with ACAC reinforces our mission to deliver reliable and efficient infrastructure solutions that support economic growth. Through our Integrated Facilities Management services, we are proud to be a trusted partner in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of one of the country’s busiest gateways.” said Anton Perdices, President and Chairman of Aboitiz Construction.

“Our partnership with Aboitiz Construction marks a major step forward in delivering world-class, efficient, and reliable airport operations. Through integrated facilities management, we’re making sure MCIA continues to operate at the highest standards of safety, service, and sustainability. This collaboration supports our mission to provide a seamless, customer-focused airport experience and our vision of strengthening Cebu as the tourism gateway and a key destination to link to the rest of the Philippines, further solidifying Cebu’s position as the premiere tourism gateway of the Philippines. This also paves the way for more future synergy projects between Aboitiz Construction and all our three airports,” said Athanasios Titonis, Chief Executive Officer of ACAC.

MCIA, the Philippines’ second busiest airport and the main gateway to Central Visayas, plays a vital role in the country’s aviation and logistics network. Serving over 11.3 million passengers annually, MCIA connects 21 airlines to 41 destinations and continues to expand its reach and services.

In March 2025, MCIA was honored with the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award for Best Airport in the Asia-Pacific region under the 5 to 15 million passengers per annum category. This recognition from Airports Council International (ACI) World—one of the most respected global authorities in aviation—underscores MCIA’s commitment to passenger experience, service excellence, and sustainability, having also been awarded for its green airport initiatives.

In April this year, as part of its IFM services, Aboitiz Construction also signed a contract with the Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates team to provide facilities maintenance and housekeeping services in LIMA Estate, Batangas. The agreement spans three years, further solidifying the company’s growing footprint in the maintenance and operations sector.
