Among the most sought-after awards for the Asian building and design industry, the BCI Asia Awards recognizes developer, contractor, and architecture firms with the highest value portfolios of projects during the last full calendar year. It is held in Hong Kong, SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
For more than a decade, through the Awards, BCI has identified top companies that have shaped the built environment in Asia into a dynamic landscape. The BCI Asia Awards serves as a recognition of the leaders for their significant contribution and impact on the environment of tomorrow.
BCI noted that architects go to great lengths to advocate and incorporate green materials and technologies into their design but not all designs are constructed according to the original specifications.
It believes that the architects’ endeavor to create sustainable structures and to incorporate green specifications should still be recognized, rewarded, and celebrated. “Thus, we are now re-expanding the selection criteria to include projects from pre-tender to post-tender stage developments.,” BCI explained.
CAD’s recent projects cited by BCI Central Philippines are Global City Mandaue, JOIL Hotel & Company de Cordova, and N. Towers.
CAD is involved in designing the proposed Global City Mandaue, a world-class waterfront city on a 101-hectare master-planned reclamation along the Mactan Channel. A premier waterfront development, business district, and lifestyle community featuring open spaces, jogging paths, bike lanes, and a boardwalk, the Global City Mandaue has been described as the city of the future.
In an earlier interview, CAD President and Senior Architect Jose Mari Caňizares said his designs focus not only on the structure itself but also considers the environment. He added that he has dreams of designing a model city.
“My dream as an architect would be to design a tropical city with a lot of greenery sidewalks designed for people to enjoy life, not only business, recreation, and leisure.”
On the other hand, the Cordova Towers Hotel development will compose of 10 and 12-storey hotel and apartment buildings to be built on a 4.2-hectare property. The design for the project redefines living and provides an expansive and serene space that harmonizes the natural beauty of its surroundings.
Meanwhile, another architectural firm, Visionary Architecture Inc. (VISIONARCH), also landed on the BCI Asia Awards 2023 Top Ten Architects list. The company designed an exposition center called the “Puso Village” intended for the Carbon modernization project. It was inspired by Cebu’s traditional houses combined with industrial design motifs reminiscent of the rail-hauled coal depot that used to stand on the site and the familiar silhouette of puso, a Cebuano delicacy wrapped in weaved palm fronds, that lend character to the development.
