During a roadshow program held in Cebu City on Tuesday, July 27, the ASEAN-USAID IGNITE with the DTI Philippines, DTI Philippine Trade and Training Center-Global MSME Academy (PTTC-GMEA), and US ASEAN Business Council presented the BCR tab. The BCR tab is a one-stop webpage that enables ASEAN SME Academy users to future-proof their businesses.
Around 200 micro, small and medium enterprises (online and physical participants) participated in the event.
Users can access e-learning modules, webinars, communities of practice and curated tools and resources on business continuity and resilience through the BCR tab on the academy’s e-learning platform.
The academy’s four courses to aid small businesses in Business Continuity and Business Resiliency Planning included: Transforming Mindsets and Teams, Managing Customers Digitally, MSME Growth Engine and Future-proof Your Business. Thesefour courses are available in English, Vietnamese, Thai, and Bahasa Indonesia.
DTI Region 7 Regional Director Maria Elena Arbon thanked partners for bringing the roadshow closer to the MSMEs in Cebu.
The BCR tab will help MSMEs develop and expand their businesses, especially from their experiences during the pandemic and typhoon Odette, RD Arbon said.
DTI Bureau of Small and Medium Enterprise Development (BSMED) OIC Dir. Emma Asusano and DTI Region 2 Assistant Regional Director Wintson Singun also graced the program. They encouraged the participants to make effective use of the free courses.
The BCR Tab roadshow was also conducted to commemorate the International MSME Day celebrated every year on June 27 to honour MSMEs role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The ASEAN SME Academy was developed as part of a collaborative effort between the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC), and the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (ACCMSME).
The core of the Academy is a series of courses for MSMEs provided at no cost by international organizations and US-ABC member companies. In 2021, the Academy upgrade its website to improve the overall user experience and accessibility.
