The event is part of the Cebu Investments Week Celebration of the Cebu Chamber. It aims to recognize the participants of various training programs of the Cebu Investments Development Concierge Center (CIDCC) and celebrate their achievements.
The CIDCC is a project of the chamber implemented in partnership with the Cebu City government designed as an economic recovery stimulus project. This project served as a response to support businesses disrupted by COVID-19 so they could adapt operations under the new normal. It also aimed to strengthen the local supply chain ecosystem, particularly for essential industries.
The Cebu City government approved the project proposal in December 202 and released the funds to CCCI on January 2021.
Mr. Charles Kenneth Co, president of CCCI, explains that the chamber aims to encourage foreign and local investors to choose Cebu for their investments and help small businesses affected by the pandemic.
With the adverse impact of the pandemic on small businesses, the chamber decided to roll out this program to help them recover, Mr. Co said.
The vision for CIDCC is to position the city and the province of Cebu to be an investment gateway in the Asia Pacific to attract local and foreign direct investments to Cebu. At the same time, the project also envisions the establishment of linkages with local businesses and foreign and local consulates and trade attaches.
Ms. Elpe Canoog, business development manager and pillar for focal point and ecosystem support, explained that the project has four pillars: Research on Opportunities for Investments (ROI), Supply Chain and Ecosystem Development, Business Facilitation, and Promotions.
The trade fair and expo showcases 15 of the 3,140 graduates of the training programs conducted by Cebu Chamber in partnership with the Cebu City government with “IGNITE: Sustaining Growth, Nurturing Innovation, and Empowering MSMEs” as the theme.
It also aims to recognize the participants of CIDCC’s various training programs and celebrate their achievements.
The event is being held from June 9 – 11, from 8 am to 12 noon.
